Prof Richard Lyon is an active UK NHS Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Pre-hospital Care and Deputy Medical Director for Air Ambulance, Kent Surrey & Sussex. He registered as a specialist in the UK, Oman, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. 

As a globally recognised leader in pre-hospital and emergency medical care, Prof Lyon works for multiple world class organisations, helping to develop current and future state-of-the art medical devices, systems and concepts aiming to save lives across the globe. 

A respected clinical leader and senior medical advisor to both governments and global corporations, with a track record of delivering high quality output and success, across clinical, academic, research and corporate fields.  

Prof Lyon was made a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) by HM The Queen in the 2017 Honours, for Services to Emergency Healthcare. Prof Lyon holds the only substantive personal Chair of Pre-hospital Emergency Care at the University of Surrey and has an established research portfolio with an extensive publication record with over 100 publications. 

Prof Lyon is a current member of the Resuscitation Council (UK) and Faculty of Pre-hospital Care and author of many international guidelines. Prof Lyon has experience of providing medical advice at the highest levels, to corporations, governments and VVIPs. Professor Lyon is a global leader in Search & Rescue Medicine. As a lead physician on the UK’s International Search & Rescue (ISAR) team he has directly supported international rescue efforts following the major earthquakes in Nepal, Türkiye and Morocco. 

Prof Lyon has authored several Search & Rescue Guidelines for the United Nations International Search & Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG). Renowned for Clinical Excellence, Prof Lyon is a trusted medical advisor at the very highest levels.
